Happy new year!
What do you do at New Years day? Meeting up with your family, or being lazy in your bed?haha
In Japan, we tend to ask someone “what is your New Year’s resolutions?” or “what did you set up your goal in this year?” at beginning of the year. So that I would like to share you the popular New Year’s resolutions and goals in Japan.
⭐︎Popular resolutions in Japan
Workout for being healthy
・Lifestyle diseases( high pressure, fat, cardio diseases …caused by bad food habits, physical inactivity, irregular life activity, etc.)is one of our problems form children to adults in Japan. So Japanese government call on citizens to workout proactively.
・2020 is more special any other years. Yes! This year, olympique is to held in Japan. So a lot of people have interests to start doing sports.
・A lot of Japanese think workout is not for getting muscles. The goal is to be active, be slim, have good mental health. We tend to think we should live more healthier.
Diet (lose weight)
Japanese calls “diet” losing weight or control your body figures.
Not only women but also men. Japanese think big eyes and high nose are attractive and we can be seem like that if we lose weight!! And also thin body will fit any kind of fashion style we think. Japanese cartoon characters is good examples.
But why do Japanese think thin body is good. Because ① Models and Actors are slim and beautiful. ② want to pull clothes off ③Japanese included other Asian country people are strict to someone’s appearances. We notice he/she lose weight or gain weight. Well, what is bad, some people joke about other’s body figures especially man to women:( This makes women sad and depressed. I wish no one joke on someone’s body figures.
This is kinda another problem these days what recent young women are too skinny. So that デブエット, means getting weight, is famous nowadays.
Body control is forever issues.
Try somethings new
You may feel to try something new when it turned new year. To learn new languages, to get qualifications, and to do new hobbies are famous resolutions for all generations.
We really don’t read books except conscious people. I read 4 books last year… My friends read book avg. 2~5 last year even my friends and I are university students. This is the condition of Japan. But we know reading many books give you good mindset and do nice job, and also get good salary. Therefore we try to read book a lot.
To find girlfriend/boyfriend
It’s fun to have partners, isn’t it. In Japan, there is a lot of ccouples events almost every month. It makes us to be confused that the people having partner is winner :0
To earn/save money
Anytime, anywhere, we need money! Japan is aging society and we are not even if we can get pension in the future. Getting job is too difficult but almost people have repayment of their scholarship. So we need to save money, do side job, or etc.. Some people buy the lottery tickets every year.It has a big dream, isn’t it?
Improve English skills
This is the top resolutions I guess. Learning in English is super hard for most of Japanese. Especially, in Japanese education system. Can you imagine, English native speaker teach Japanese students with Japanese!! This is Japan.
English class is necessary from elementary school in Japan recently government decided. Because studying it from middle school is late and these days adults can’t use English in actual life. We feel inferior when speaking in English.
However, we want to have communications with foreigner. So we study for school tests or TOEIC. Our goal is to speak in English fluently, though.
Find your identity
We are pointed out ” push up your identity.”
you seem just a normal nothing person. you shold live like foreiners. they have thier mind and appeal thier strong points. japanese are not unique.Find your identity !!!!!
That is we heard a lot in our nowaday life.
I feel it’s not the thing that you can find it somewhere in quikely.
If we say, I like myself that I think. Someone called them selflover…
We get lost about identity.
Quit smoke, drink less
Getting number of people who drink less or quit smoking for their health. As I said at the beginning, lifestyle diseases, lung cancers, and the biggest event olympic effects for changing healthier mind. Some restaurants stopped to have place to smoke inside. It is still not enough, though. Japanese law is not strict for smokes and alcohols right now. Therefore there are so many people set it gaol by themselves.
⭐︎My resolutions and goal
Do some workout for getting muscles
I lost my weight like for 30kg to spend for 2years after going to study abroad. In conclusion, I lost energy and power to hold someone while in physical therapy LOL I’ll try to post my work out and diets on this blog.
Get good scores at my university
If I failed my classes, everything was nothing. I don’t like study and I’m bad at memorizing but I like my major to study about human body functions. So I’ll do my best as much as possible. I wanna go to Graduated school in abroad so I need high GPA. In medical field you don’t need high GPA for graduating or getting a job in Japan. But I need extra career.
Keep posting on this blog
This is the latest and never had resolutions. I just started blogging so my first goal is keep posting. This English blog is my place that I can force me to use English and be judged by viewers, you!! I wanted to remove some excuse that the reason I can’t speak or write in English.( You know, the good excuse is” Because I’m a Japanese. Japanese are bad at using in English”, mostly.) So, I try to keep posting on this blog and improve English writing skills and share with you good contents. Thanks for my English speaker friend pushed my back to start this blog, so why don’t I take a chance to continue this!!!
